Pablo nicotine pouches: every line and strength explained

Pablo sells four strengths under five names and two extra formats. Here is what each one is, who it is for, and which one you should not start on.

Quick answer: Pablo comes in four strengths: Silver Edition at 10mg, Gold Edition at 17mg, Red and Ice Cold at 30mg, and Exclusive at 50mg. Silver is the only one below the X-Strong band and the only sensible first Pablo. Dry and Mini are formats, not strengths, and both come in at 30mg. Every tin is £4.29.

Pablo is made by N.G.P. Tobacco in Denmark and it is the brand that made "extra strong" a selling point in the UK. The problem is that the line names (Silver, Gold, Red, Ice Cold, Exclusive) do not tell you the strength, and the strength gaps between them are big. This guide lays it out.

The jump from Silver to Gold is 7mg. From Gold to Red is 13mg. From Red to Exclusive is 20mg. These are not small steps and you should not treat them like the 3mg gaps between ZYN tins.

Silver Edition: 10mg, the one to start with

Silver is the Pablo for people who are not yet Pablo people. At 10mg it sits in the strong band alongside VELO Mango Ice and just under ZYN Watermelon Mint. The pouch is the same slim, moist pouch as the rest of the range, so you get the Pablo feel (fast start, big flavour) without the burn.

Flavours: Cold Mint, Spearmint, Peppermint, Blue Raspberry, Blueberry Peach Ice, Grape Ice, Kiwi, Pear and Pineapple. There is a 5-pack at £5.99 and a 9-pack at £19.99.

Who it suits: anyone at 9mg to 11mg with another brand who wants to try Pablo, or anyone stepping down from Gold.

Gold Edition: 17mg, the everyday extra strong

Gold is where most Pablo users live. At 17mg it is half a milligram above Killa and in the same X-Strong band. The hit is quick and obvious, there is a mild burn for the first few minutes that fades, and the flavour holds for 30 to 40 minutes.

Flavours: Frosted Mint, Frosted Ice, White Mint, Cola, Dark Cherry, Blue Raspberry, Blueberry Peach Ice, Grape Ice, Kiwi, Passion Fruit, Pear, Pineapple, Strawberry Kiwi and Tropical Punch. This is the widest fruit range at this strength from any brand. The Five Flavour Fusion 5-pack is £5.99.00.

Who it suits: heavy smokers and vapers who have already used a 12mg to 16.5mg pouch and found it right. Read is 20mg a strong nicotine pouch if you are deciding whether this band is for you.

Red, Ice Cold and X Ice Cold: 30mg

These three are the same strength with different flavours. Red is a plain, barely flavoured pouch with a tobacco-ish earthiness. Ice Cold is a cold mint. X Ice Cold is a colder mint. All three are 30mg, which is nearly double Gold.

At 30mg the experience changes. The burn is sharp for five to ten minutes, the nicotine is impossible to ignore, and side effects (hiccups, nausea, a racing pulse) are common if you leave a pouch in too long or use two close together. This is not an everyday pouch for most people, it is a tin kept for when nothing else works.

Who it suits: a small group of very heavy users who have been at 17mg to 20mg for a long time. Nobody else.

Exclusive: 50mg, the top of the market

Pablo Exclusive is 50mg a pouch. It is the strongest nicotine pouch we sell under any brand name, tied with Iceberg and Garant at the same figure. It comes in 30 flavours, from Frosted Mint and Blue Mint through Cola, Cherry Cola, Dark Cherry, Bubblegum, Strawberry Cheesecake, Pink Lemonade, Mango Ice, Mocca and Liquorice. There is a 5-pack at £5.99.

The flavour range is almost beside the point. At 50mg, the nicotine dominates for the first ten minutes and most of the subtlety is lost. We list Exclusive because people search for it and because it is a genuine product from a genuine brand. We do not recommend it to anyone who is not already using 30mg regularly. Our 50mg nicotine pouches explained guide goes into the detail.

Dry and Mini: formats, not strengths

This is the part that confuses people. Pablo Dry and Pablo Mini are not lower-strength lines. They are different formats of the 30mg Red, Ice Cold and X Ice Cold pouches.

Pablo Dry is a drier pouch that releases more slowly. The first few minutes are gentler, there is less drip, and the pouch lasts well over an hour. For a 30mg pouch that matters a lot, and some heavy users prefer Dry Ice Cold over the standard version for exactly that reason.

Pablo Mini is a smaller pouch at the same 30mg. Less material, but the same nicotine, so it hits hard and fast. It is for people who want 30mg discreetly, which is a narrow audience.

Both lines come in and out of stock. The standard moist slims are the ones that are always there. See our dry vs moist nicotine pouches page for how the formats differ.

Which Pablo should you buy?

  • Coming from ZYN, VELO or Nordic Spirit at 9mg to 11mg: Silver Edition 10mg.
  • Already using Killa, White Fox Full Charge or Nordic Spirit Max: Gold Edition 17mg.
  • At 17mg to 20mg for months and still wanting more: Ice Cold 30mg, one at a time.
  • Exclusive 50mg: only if you are already on 30mg and know what you are doing.

Pablo is never a first pouch. If you are new, the best nicotine pouches for beginners guide is where to start, and nothing in it goes above 6mg.

Frequently asked questions

What is the weakest Pablo?

Silver Edition at 10mg. It is in the strong band, not the extra strong band, and it is the only Pablo line we would call a sensible step from a mainstream brand.

Is Pablo Gold stronger than Killa?

Slightly. Gold is 17mg and Killa is 16.5mg. Same factory, same pouch, so the difference is barely noticeable. Our Pablo vs Killa guide compares them in full.

What is the difference between Pablo Red and Pablo Ice Cold?

Flavour only. Both are 30mg. Red is plain and slightly earthy; Ice Cold is a cold mint; X Ice Cold is a colder mint. If you want 30mg with a flavour, pick Ice Cold.

Is Pablo Dry weaker than regular Pablo?

No. Dry is 30mg like Red and Ice Cold. It feels gentler at the start because the dry pouch releases more slowly, but the total nicotine is the same and it lasts longer.
