Authors
Who writes the guides, how they test what they write about, and the standards every page on this site is held to.
Quick answer: The guides on snus & pouches are written by Hektor Jonsson, our pouch specialist, who tests every tin before it is described. Every guide follows the same rules: plain English, honest about strength, no medical advice, and a quick answer at the top.
Every guide on this site carries the name of the person who wrote it, and that person has used the tins they are writing about. There is no content farm behind the guides index, and nothing is written from a press release.
Hektor Jonsson
Hektor Jonsson is the pouch specialist at snus & pouches and writes the guides. He grew up around Swedish snus, moved to tobacco-free pouches when they arrived, and tests every tin on the site before it is described. Read Hektor's author page for how he rates pouches and his most useful guides.
How the guides are written
The same rules apply to every page, from a brand overview on the nicotine pouches hub to a long health guide.
- Tested, not summarised. A tin is used for at least a few days before it is rated. Flavour, release speed, moisture and how long the pouch lasts are noted each time, so a 6mg from one brand can be compared with a 6mg from another.
- Honest about strength. Beginners are told to start lower than they think. Heavy users are told which tins deliver and which only look strong on the label. Stronger is never described as better.
- Quick answer first. Every guide opens with a two or three sentence answer to the question in its title. The detail follows for people who want it.
- Not medical advice. Health guides say what is known, point to the NHS and your GP, and are clear that nicotine is addictive and for over-18s only.
- Kept current. Guides carry the month they were last updated. When a brand changes a strength or the law changes, the guide is revised rather than left to drift.
