Best mini nicotine pouches

Minis are the discreet option. Here are the five mini pouches worth buying, from a 1.5mg ZYN to a 20mg 77 Ghost, with what each one is for.

Quick answer: The best mini nicotine pouch is ZYN Cool Mint 1.5mg to 6mg Mini Dry: tiny, dry, discreet and available at three strengths. VELO Crispy Peppermint 6mg is the best moist mini, FUMI Mini Watermelon Mint 4mg the best cheap one, Nordic Spirit Mini the softest, and 77 Ghost Mini Mango 20mg the only extra strong mini worth having.

A mini is about half the size of a slim. It sits high under the lip where nobody can see it, it is easier to place, and because it holds less material it feels gentler at the same mg. That makes minis the natural format for beginners, for the office and for anyone who wants a pouch they can forget about. Our mini nicotine pouches page lists every one we stock.

1. ZYN Cool Mint Mini Dry

ZYN built its UK reputation on the Mini Dry. The pouch is small and dry, which means a slow, even release, almost no drip and a pouch that lasts 45 minutes to an hour. Cool Mint comes at 1.5mg; Citrus at 3mg; Coffee and Citrus at 6mg (labelled Mini Strong). Spearmint and Black Cherry are also 1.5mg. No other brand gives you a mini at three strengths, and no other brand goes as low as 1.5mg.

Verdict: the best mini for beginners, the best for discretion, and the only one with a proper strength ladder.

2. VELO Crispy Peppermint 6mg

VELO's 4mg and 6mg tins are minis. They are moist, so they start within a minute or two and feel more obvious than a ZYN at the same mg. Crispy Peppermint at 6mg is the best of them: a clean peppermint with no sweetness. Bright Spearmint, Tangy Lime and Purple Grape are the 4mg options; Tropical Mango is the other 6mg.

Verdict: the best moist mini, and the one to pick if ZYN feels too slow to get going.

3. Nordic Spirit Mint Mini 6mg

Nordic Spirit sells its mint flavours in a mini as well as the standard slim. The pouch is the softest of any mini here, smooth against the gum and gentle for the whole 40 minutes. Mint and Spearmint are £4.89, a little above the rest of the range. The brand's minis sit in the 6mg to 9mg zone, so there is nothing as gentle as ZYN's 1.5mg.

Verdict: the most comfortable mini. The one for an ex-smoker who finds VELO scratchy.

4. FUMI Mini Watermelon Mint 4mg

FUMI does a Mini line at 4mg: Watermelon Mint, Freezy Mint, Spearmint and Strawberry, all £4.49. The pouch is moist and the flavour fades sooner than ZYN or Nordic Spirit, but at 4mg it is a sensible first tin and Watermelon Mint is the most forgiving of the four. Note that FUMI's 99p promo tins are the standard slims, not the minis.

Verdict: a decent cheap-brand mini. If budget matters more than pouch quality, the standard FUMI slims at 99p are the better buy.

5. 77 Ghost Mini Mango 20mg

77 is a Danish brand and Ghost Mini is its extra strong line: a mini pouch at 20mg. That is more than three times the strength of anything else on this list in a pouch half the size of a slim. The mango is sweet and strong, Ghost Original Mini is the plain version, and both are £4.29. 77's standard range at 5.2mg and 10.4mg is a slim, not a mini.

Verdict: the only extra strong mini worth buying. For heavy users who need discretion. Not a beginner tin, whatever the size suggests.

Minis we have left out

Pablo Mini and Killa Mini both exist, at 30mg and 16mg, but they are out of stock more often than in and the standard slims from both brands are the ones to buy. CUBA Mini is not in our catalogue at the moment. If any of these come back, the 77 Ghost Mini is the closest comparison.

Mini vs slim: which should you pick?

A mini is for discretion and for gentleness. A slim is for duration and for strength. If you want a pouch for an hour-long meeting, a dry mini (ZYN) is the most invisible option. If you want a pouch to replace a cigarette every two hours, a slim gives you more. Plenty of people use both: a mini at work, a slim in the evening. Our best slim nicotine pouches guide covers the other format, and the nicotine pouch strength guide will put you in the right band before you choose either.

Frequently asked questions

Are mini nicotine pouches weaker?

Not by mg. A 6mg mini and a 6mg slim contain the same nicotine. The mini holds less material so the release feels a little gentler and shorter. Most brands sell their lowest strengths as minis, which is why minis have a gentle reputation.

Which mini is best for beginners?

ZYN Cool Mint, Spearmint or Black Cherry at 1.5mg, or ZYN Citrus at 3mg. They are the gentlest pouches we sell. See best nicotine pouches for beginners.

Can you see a mini pouch under the lip?

Rarely. A mini sits high and flat under the top lip and most people cannot tell it is there. A dry mini (ZYN) is the least visible because it does not swell.

How long does a mini last?

A dry mini lasts 45 minutes to an hour. A moist mini (VELO, Nordic Spirit, FUMI) lasts 30 to 40 minutes. See how long nicotine pouches last.
