A Killa Cold Mint Extra Strong 16.5mg nicotine pouch tin on a white square
329 products, 190 in stock

Quick answer: Extra strong nicotine pouches contain 12mg or more of nicotine per pouch, and the band runs all the way to 50mg and beyond. They are for experienced users only. The main tins are ZYN 13.5mg, Killa 16.5mg, Pablo Gold 17mg, Nordic Spirit Max 17mg, 77 Ghost 20mg, CUBA 30mg, Siberia 33mg and Pablo Exclusive 50mg.

This is the top band in our strength sub-hub and the biggest on the site by product count, because Pablo, Killa, Iceberg and CUBA sell almost nothing below 16mg. It is also the band where a wrong guess hurts, so this page is blunter than the others.

Do not start here. If you have never used a 10mg or 11mg pouch for a few weeks, you have no way of knowing how you will react to 16mg, let alone 30mg or 50mg. Nicotine poisoning is real and unpleasant: vomiting, cold sweats, a pounding heart. Start in the strong band and move up only if you need to.

Who the extra strong band suits

  • Heavy ex-smokers who found 11mg or 12mg faded inside 20 minutes every time and were going through a tin a day.
  • Swedish snus users used to 20mg-plus portions, who want a tobacco-free equivalent. Siberia 33mg and White Fox Black 30mg are the direct replacements.
  • Long-term pouch users whose tolerance has crept up over years and who use two or three a day rather than ten.

Who it does not suit: vapers switching across (start at 10mg, see the strong band), anyone using pouches to step down, and anyone who thinks a bigger number means a better pouch.

Four steps inside one band

12mg and 50mg are both "extra strong" on our scale, but a Pablo Exclusive has four times the nicotine of a ZYN Frost. Treat the band as four steps and do not skip any.

Side effects to watch for

Every nicotine side effect gets louder in this band. The ones worth knowing:

  • Hiccups. The most common, and a sign the pouch is releasing faster than you can handle. Dry pouches and shorter sessions reduce it.
  • Sweating and a racing heart. Normal for the first ten minutes at 16mg if you are coming from 11mg. Not normal if it continues past that.
  • Nausea and dizziness. Too much nicotine. Take the pouch out. Do not wait for it to pass with the pouch still in.
  • Gum burn and white patches. Strong, dry pouches sitting in the same spot every day. Swap sides, cut sessions to 30 minutes, and rest the gum if it stays sore. The health side is covered in nicotine pouch side effects.

Nicotine is addictive, and tolerance builds faster at these levels. If 17mg stops working and you reach for 30mg, that is the time to step back down.

How to use them without feeling sick

  1. Move one step at a time. 11mg to 13.5mg or 16mg. 16mg to 20mg. 20mg to 30mg. Weeks at each, not days.
  2. Start with a short session. 15 to 20 minutes the first time you try a new step. If it feels fine, go longer the next day.
  3. Do not use one on an empty stomach. Nausea is far more likely before breakfast.
  4. Use a mini or a dry pouch for the first tin. Killa Mini 16mg and White Fox Tight release more slowly than a moist slim. The dry vs moist page explains why.
  5. Keep a weaker tin in your pocket. On the days when a 17mg feels like too much, use a 10mg instead of pushing through.
  6. Buy one tin of a new strength, never a bundle. A 50mg Pablo you cannot use is £4.29 wasted. A five-pack is £12.

Frequently asked questions

What is the strongest nicotine pouch in the UK?

Among the brands we cover, CUBA Cherry at 66mg is the highest figure, followed by the 50mg tins from Pablo Exclusive, Garant, Iceberg, NOIS, Dope and ELUX. These are not mainstream products. For most heavy users, Killa 16.5mg or Pablo Gold 17mg is already plenty.

Is 16mg or 17mg extra strong?

Yes. On our scale anything from 12mg up is extra strong, and 16mg to 17mg is the standard tier of the band where Killa, Pablo Gold, Nordic Spirit Max and White Fox Full Charge sit. It is roughly half as much again as an 11mg ZYN or VELO.

Is 50mg a nicotine pouch anyone should use?

Only a very small group of long-term heavy users with high tolerance. For everyone else 50mg is far too much and can cause nicotine poisoning. We explain what is actually in these tins in 50mg nicotine pouches explained.

Are extra strong pouches legal in the UK?

Yes, for adults aged 18 and over. There is currently no legal cap on nicotine strength in pouches in the UK, unlike the 20mg/ml limit on e-liquid. Future regulation under the Tobacco and Vapes Bill may change that, which we track in our law guides.

How do I come down from extra strong?

One step at a time, in reverse. 30mg to 17mg, 17mg to 13.5mg or 12mg, then into the strong band at 10mg or 11mg. Three to four weeks per step. Using a mini at the same mg as a halfway stage makes each step easier.
